Dr Rupert Snyman

Dr Snyman is an Orthopaedic Surgeon in Port Macquarie NSW.

He completed his undergraduate training at UNSW, based at Prince of Wales Hospital Clinical School in 2001.

His resident years were at Tamworth Base Hospital in North Western NSW near his home town of Scone NSW.

He gained broad experience in rural orthopaedic registrar appointments in 2005-6 and was accepted into the AOA national training scheme in 2007.

He worked with leading specialists in:

  • Trauma Care at John Hunter Hospital.
  • Joint Replacement at Royal Newcastle Hospital and Prince of Wales Hospital.
  • Hand Surgery and Shoulder Surgery at Prince of Wales Hospital.
  • He gained a wealth of knowledge from surgeons in Port Macquarie, Tamworth, Maitland and Coffs Harbour.

He obtained his Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons in 2011 and commenced as a Orthopaedic VMO in Tamworth shortly afterwards.

After gaining broad experience in 2 years on a 1:3 on call roster in Tamworth he moved to Port Macquarie to join Dr Bill Cumberland. He has taken over Dr Cumberland’s practice after he retired in 2015.

Dr Snyman regularly attends cadaver labs and advanced skills courses. He also visits experts in the field to ensure his techniques and non-surgical options remain up to date.

His practice is almost exclusively hip and knee replacement as well as sports knee surgery such as ACL reconstruction. He is currently the Head of Department in Orthopaedics after taking over that role in July 2018.

In 2021 he welcomed Dr Andriy Boyko and Dr Tom Longworth into his practice to provide a sports medicine service to the area. Please visit our Mid North Coast Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine site below.
