I recently attended the YFF in May this year at Dunsborough in WA. This forum is an initiative of the RACS which trains all surgeons in Australia. Key discussions involved bullying, starting practice as well as education and training. A wide variety of specialties were represented from all states of Australia.
We were lucky to be joined by representatives from the surgical training bodies in the US, UK, Thailand, NZ, Indonesia and Hong Kong. I found their insights and anecdotes fascinating. Hopefully some of our recommendations will become RACS policy in years to come, to the benefit of young surgeons and their patients.
